Tips for portrait photography
1. Change your perspective
The most common way in taking portrait is at the eye level of the subject. Alter the angle of the subject by setting your camera’s angle or even remove that subject, you might find an awesome shot you never expect. Try both high and down angle shot and low angle shot or even a close up shot. The more you try, you are inclined to create more interest.
2. Concentrate eye contact
The subject’s eyes provide a large impact to the photo and if you try many directions of the subject’s eyes, you will find out many emotions of the photos you take.
3. Ignore the rules of composition
Some photographers seriously abide by the rule of composition while a lot of professional photographer always break the rule. The rule composition will be an obstacle in creating the mood of the picture and it brings about the same old style which is really boring.
4. Play with the lighting
Lighting is another important factor in lighting up a life to the photos. Different ways of lights can create different mood of the picture. For instance, side-lighting shows the subject’s doubts, backlighting create a sense of mystery while silhouetting the subject can make it even more mysterious and powerful.
5. Be more creative with the subject
If the subjects themselves are always out of the box, that’s really good for a photographer as it’s easy to create something extraordinary. For instance, if you as photographer ask your subject for a jump shot and the subject denies doing it, then you miss a great shot. You have to try to make your subject feel more comfortable while you are snapping the photos. It might sound silly to take some funny shot but the subjects will never know how cool the photos will be after they dare to pose!
