Tips for taking wedding photos

Wedding photography tips

1. Create a ‘Shot List’
Ask the couple what shots they want to get snapped on the wedding day and you just jot them down. This way is quite necessary as it will be a real shame when the couple get the photos back and find out their parents missing!

2. Visit the location
Visit ever place which will be used as the location on the day so that you can get yourself and your camera’s setting prepared.

3. Take the small details
Small details on the big day can even express romance – rings, flowers, dresses, shoes, guests, smiles, tables and so on. Add pictures of them in the end album and the couple will find out how special the album is.

4. Learn how to Use Diffused Light
Diffused light is something a photographer need to learn especially when shooting wedding photography in a place with slight light like a church. You are lucky if you are allowed to use a flash in a church, however, you have to beware of flash bouncing. Using a flash diffuser might help to soften the light.

5. Shoot in RAW
Some photographers might not have time for shooting RAW but wedding photographs are just worth shooting RAW.

6. Consider Your Backgrounds
Too many people wandering around the wedding is an obstacle for a photographer especially when it comes to the formal shots. You need to wait till those people are out the frame or you might have to choose other locations with less people.

7. Change Your Perspective
Be creative, use more imaginations with your photo shooting. The couple doesn’t want their end album look too simple with all ordinary photographs like formal poses. You might need to create some interesting poses or come up with some wonderful angles to make the photographs look more special.
